Happy New Year 2010

Welcome,  For Guys my age I never expected to see 2000 let alone 2010.  If you are a younger person today (50ish) plan now to live to 100.  Find something you would love to do and start now. So many folks tell me at 70, I want to do something , but I don't know what.

Go out your front door this Saturday.  Alone is better,  walk, drive to a park, library, someplace where you are not expecting to be entertained.  Look around.  Stop and be quiet.  There must be something you did, or know of someone who did something you wanted to do. So many times in life we hear. "You need to wait until your older to do that", then when you get old you hear "Your should have done that when you were younger".

There is never a a right age to do what you want. Folds 65 have started running marathons. Written books, climbed mountains, flew powered parachutes. Sane people. You need to use life, not just wait it out.
I have a saying that when Jesus come for me I will have played with all of the toys. It takes thinking and work to find joy in something.  Most folks would rather couch up and let someone else entertain them.

Get some control of your life.  Use is wisely and don't blame someone else because you are to lazy to do something.  It is not your spouse, family, job, environment that keeps you wishing.  It is you.2010 is a good time to get a piece of control of your life if you haven't taken this step.  Stop smoking.  I smoked from 12 - 50. Not proud of it, and I have been stopped for 23 years. The best 23. Here's some help

Quit Smoking Now

Best wishes for a successful new year and may it be a success in the truest sense of the word.

Older, Happier,But not Prettier

Merry Christmas Friends,

I found I could make choices about how I wanted to grow old. I couldn't keep my hair and some of the wrinkles were permanent. But, I could do something about my lifestyle and my perception of life.

For instance I loved the outdoors. I might not be able or want to climb anymore but I can backpack. I could not afford to rent airplanes anymore but, I can fly my powered parachute. I didn't feel safe solo sailing anymore but I can kayak. I don't fly bush up in Alaska anymore, but can substitute this with my treetop flying in my PPG. Don't age by the calendar.

The world is a wonderful place and just because we become older dosen't mean we are destined for the sofa and TV.

At 73 I have been married 49+ of those years. Have two self supporting sons. A beautiful home.
A complete wonderful life. Hard to believe Heaven is going to be better than this. I am not anything more than an experience lifer. I love to do things all by myself as well as with others.
Most of my adventure never would have happened if I had waited for someone to do them with me.

I believe getting older and happier is a physical and mental state. Find the time to turn off the TV. Get some good books. Get out of the trash mill and read some classics. Turn off the TV and either get outside or find ways to exercise the body. A basic home workout place need not take up much room and surely you have 30 minutes a day.

You should be in charge of your life. So let's get moving. Don't sit around all day listening to the dreambreakers. You have the same body as anyone else and were created in the image of the creator. It can't get any better than this.

Eat for the body, read for the brain, exercize for the soul!
